ADAPTATION ASSIGNMENT

50 points

This assignment consists of 3 parts:

  • Choose a news event
  • Translate that news event into a narrative (a short story). Work to include dialogue and unique details. Use the skills and tools you’ve developed as writers this year.
  • Adaptation: Create A Story Board of your Short Story.

Part 1: Choosing a News Clip

It’s worth to think critically about what news event you choose. You can choose to translate any piece of news. Do a close reading and think critically of particular scenes in your source. How do those scenes add up to a narrative. Make sure you have an interpretive rationale and overall vision for why you’re choosing the news event, and look ahead to what you need to do with it.
